Haunt Reviewers Every year Haunt owners receive e-mails, calls, or letters saying quote-- “we would like to review your haunt, all we ask is “free” comp tickets and direct entry to your haunt, we will link you to our web site and write a review, no matter if you e-mail them back or not they still show up, usually at your busiest time, hand you a business card they have printed up on their PC using wall mart paper. Come on guys we’re in business, we have web sites, there are expenses to operating a Haunted Attraction, fork over the admission fee like everyone else, stand in line and still write your review.
First, one hundred people could go through the same haunted attraction and you would get one hundred different opinions at the end. I have been visiting haunted attractions for over 40 years and in my opinion there is no such thing as a bad haunted house. There are some that are over priced, but there is none bad, my saying has always been put me in a dark room and yell boo! And I’ll give you $5.00, lol Now days every haunt and there brother has a review site or are friends with someone who does, new haunters of course fall for this review stuff at first, then pretty much do like the rest of us and buy their own web sites to promote their haunt. A guy said the other day you rate your self #1 on your own web site? I said I would be pretty stupid to pay for a web site and up keep and vote someone else number one, and to be honest after visiting other haunts, I think we are number one, however I’m sure if you ask the haunt down the road he would feel the same way about his haunt and rightly so.
I see these so called haunt review sites that say report to us fraud or if you are harassed, become a certified haunt reviewer, and so on, this is a bunch of over grown boys, there is no such thing as a certified haunt reviewer, there are certified crazy people but haunt reviewers come on give me a break. People it’s real simple these are people who are just to cheap to pay to go through your haunted house, they actually do love haunted houses and want to visit as many as they can every year, they just don’t want to pay. Anyone, can purchase their own web site and call themselves a haunt review group, we have in access of 50 actors a year at our haunt naturally every chance we get we visit other haunts, and of course we talk all the way back home about different things each had, can we call that a review? I don’t know why not, I mean we never graduated from Haunt University, but we do know Haunted Houses.
If these so called haunt reviewers want to write about each haunted house then pay your admississon and go through the haunt, don’t go to the ticket booth ask for the owner hand off some fake business card, ask for free entry and bumped to the front of the line. Of course for the ones who fall for this it’s great now you think someone big is going to review your haunt, you Send word inside for all the actors to double up on their roles, so if you only had 5 actors now you’re going to have 10, and so on, so in reality you’re not going to be getting a true review of this haunt at all. You’ll be getting a review of what these guys will see and as soon as their through the actors will once again relax, and go back to their normal role. So your not getting a true review at all, if someone wants to give you a true review and loves Haunted Houses, that much then pay your own way, go in with the crowd, and see what everyone else sees, now that’s a review.
Better yet if you want to know if a haunt is any good, when you arrive before buying a ticket, go stand outside the exit door, as the visitors come out ask them what they thought about the show? And if you should spend your money to see it.
